Beliefs
DOCTRINAL BELIEFS
We are an Orthodox Christian church that is rooted in the historic declarations of the Nicene and Apostles Creed. Though it would be impossible to say everything, it is our hope to say something in order to be as forthright as possible regarding what we believe.
GOD We believe God, in the three person of Father, Son (Jesus) and Holy Spirit has always existed. He is the Creator and Lord over all of creation.
OUR GOSPEL UNDERSTANDING
Creation :: We believe God brought the world into existence out of nothing. The original creation was one of order, beauty and harmony. As part of His creation, humans were meant to not only care for the creation, but also to cultivate and create within their environment. We believe that originally humans perfectly reflected the image of God.
Fall :: We believe in a literal fall, where our first parents, Adam and Eve, disobeyed God and brought sin into God’s creation. At this point, the harmony of the original creation was lost. Adam and Eve, and all of humanity became separated from God.
Redemption :: God in his infinite mercy and grace, sent his only Son, Jesus Christ, into the world. Jesus lived the perfect life we can never live and died the death we all deserve. He bore our punishment, so that by believing in Him we could be in a right relationship with God. By believing in his literal life, death and resurrection and surrendering our lives to Him is the only means of salvation.
Restoration :: We believe that God is going to restore His creation to how he originally intended things to be. Rather than waiting around for this to happen, God desires to use us, as followers of Jesus, to bring the heavenly realm to earth. We should actively seek not only the redemption of people, but of all of creation.
THE BIBLE
We believe this is God’s living and active Word, graciously given to us to lead us in the Gospel. It is what we orient our lives around. It is infallible and inerrant. It is not simply instructions, sprinkled with stories. Rather it is one, over-arching story that is sprinkled with instruction.
THE CHURCH
We believe the Church exists to be part of God’s unfolding redemptive plan in the world. The church is a sent community that is meant to function as the Body of Christ for the benefit of the world.
