The Anatomy of God's Wrath & Our Unbelief (Romans 1:18-25)

From Threat to Treasure: The Anatomy of Our Rescue

For years, the phrase "the righteousness of God" haunted Martin Luther like a cold, punitive sword. He felt the weight of God’s holiness like a mountain of lead on his chest because he saw it only as a demand he could never meet. Many of us live with that same storm inside our souls, fearing that God is either a short-fused deity waiting to strike us or an indifferent observer of our brokenness.

However, Romans 1 reveals a different reality: God’s wrath is His settled, holy "No" to everything that seeks to unmake His "Yes" to our humanity. We are not merely "seekers" who have lost our way; we are rebels who have exchanged the banquet of God's glory for the gravel of our own idols. But the beauty of the Gospel is that when we were at our most rebellious, God did not just let go of the boat. Through Jesus Christ, He jumped into the current of our destruction to pull us back to the shore of His grace. This message invites you to stop the exhausting effort of self-salvation and find rest in the gift of righteousness that God provides.
