The Father Who Gives Freely
June 29, 2025

Is God fair? According to Jesus, not in the way we think—and that’s very good news.
In Matthew 20:1–16, Jesus tells a parable that disrupts our natural sense of justice and points us to the Father’s radical generosity. It’s a story of workers, wages, and a landowner who pays everyone the same—regardless of when they started.
Stephen Bean invites us to see ourselves in both the early risers and the last-minute hires. We all compare. We all wrestle with “what we deserve.” But in this upside-down kingdom, God’s blessings aren’t earned—they’re received. This sermon calls us to release resentment, reject comparison, and rejoice in a grace that is more than fair—it’s glorious.
