Gospel Foundations
These are the core convictions that unite us at CrossPointe. Every partner joyfully affirms these essentials of the gospel.
We believe in one God who has always existed in three equally divine and distinct Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This God is perfect in love and holiness, infinite in power and knowledge. He created all things, sustains all things, and rules over all things for his glory and our good. He is worthy of all our worship, trust, and obedience.
We believe that God has spoken. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are God's inspired and authoritative Word, without error in the original manuscripts, fully sufficient, and final in their authority. Through Scripture, God reveals himself, shows us his will, and equips us to follow Jesus. The Bible is to be believed in all it teaches, obeyed in all it commands, and trusted in all it promises.
We believe that God created human beings, male and female, in his own image to know him, love him, and reflect his glory. But humanity chose to rebel against God, and sin entered the world. Now, all people are born separated from God, corrupted by sin, and unable to save themselves. Our greatest need is to be reconciled to God, under whose just judgment we stand. Our only hope is the undeserved grace of God, who alone can rescue and restore us.
We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human, the eternal Son who took on flesh to save us. He was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as the substitute for our sins, rose bodily from the dead on the third day, and ascended into heaven where he reigns as Lord. Jesus lived the life we should have lived and died the death we deserved to die. Through his death and resurrection, he defeated sin, satisfied God's justice, and secured salvation for all who trust in him. There is no other name by which we can be saved.
We believe that salvation is a gift of God's grace, not something we earn or deserve. From eternity past, God determined to save a people for himself from every nation. He justifies guilty sinners, declaring them righteous, solely on the basis of Christ's perfect life and sacrificial death, received by faith alone. This salvation produces a transformed life marked by repentance, obedience, and good works that flow from grateful hearts. We are saved by grace, through faith, in Christ alone, for God's glory alone.
We believe that the Holy Spirit applies the work of Christ to our lives. He convicts us of sin, opens our hearts to believe the gospel, unites us to Jesus, and transforms us to become more like him. The Spirit lives in every believer, empowering us to obey God, assuring us of our adoption as God's children, giving gifts for ministry, and enabling us to bear witness to Jesus. We cannot follow Jesus in our own strength; we depend entirely on the Spirit's power.
We believe that God calls his people into local churches where Christ is the Head. The church is the household of God, a family of believers united by the gospel and empowered by the Spirit. We gather to worship God, to hear his Word preached, to celebrate baptism and communion, to care for one another in love, and to be equipped for ministry. The church exists to glorify God and make disciples of all nations, serving as a sign of God's coming kingdom. Christ loves his church, gave himself for her, and will present her to himself as a radiant bride.
We believe that Jesus Christ will return personally, visibly, and gloriously to judge the living and the dead. Those who have trusted in Christ will be raised to eternal life in his presence as a new creation where sin, suffering, and death are no more. Those who have rejected Christ will face eternal judgment. This hope shapes how we live now, filling us with joy, urgency, and confidence that God will complete the good work he has begun.
